Doug Hyde, the man described by the BBC’s art correspondent as ‘the UK’s most popular living artist’, unveils his latest collection on 1st August. The multi-award-winning artist is celebrating the launch of an uplifting new series of original paintings, limited edition prints, sculpture and finally, the highlight of the collection- something completely new. The stunning new collection is now available to view and order at Surridge Gallery, Princesshay.

 

Doug Hyde is feted for his vibrant, whimsical images and sculptures which tell stories of day to day life with wit, charm, style and honesty. His new collection is brimming with all those characteristics that we have come to expect, embracing an array of stories and styles, taking us from the sea to the stars in the company of dogs, cats and rebel princesses.

 

This celebrated artist enjoyed a meteoric rise from virtual unknown to the UK’s foremost artistic presence has been meteoric. Since his now iconic pastel image of a smiling face first enchanted a nation of art lovers in 2003 he has gained a huge following around the world, winning an impressive range of awards, media coverage and celebrity collectors. As his reputation has grown, his original work has become increasingly sought after, and his status as one of the UK’s most collectable artists has been undeniable for over a decade.

 

Doug’s wonderfully warm personality and fund of anecdotes about the inspiration behind his work have won him huge popularity in the collector’s community, and he is always delighted to pose for photographs or personalise artwork for his many admirers.
